Death by TLAs (Three Letter Acronyms)

I'm working for a goverment organisation at the moment and the acronyms are killing me. I did this cartoon for the employee newsletter, but it hasn't helped.

What is a copywriter?

"Copy" is old printers jargon for chunks of text.

A copywriter writes copy for brochures, text for leaflets, direct mail copy, advertising copy, and these days copy for email and website copy. A copywriter might be used for any business writing and marketing writing, including manual writing and writing sales letters.

I hope that explains it. Oh yeah, don’t forget writing for search engines – that’s called SEO copywriting (did you get all that Mr search engine?).

Yes, SEO copy is writing to influence a computer program! The world has officially become a strange place.
